The Perfect Friday Night

Okay, I left you hanging with my last post, didn't I? Lucky for you, nobody reads this blog and so nobody lost any sleep over it. The day before my class was to resume in-person learning, a new COVID case was diagnosed in the AM class. As it turned out, public health and the school board decided they didn't care and we were allowed out of isolation and returned to class. Thanks guys. Thankfully all has been good since then. Here's a recap of what has happened since my last blog post: I returned to work I got my vaccine I reacted poorly to the vaccine and spent two days in bed I've struggled to keep up with house work and am currently living in squalor (okay, not quite) (also, not much different than before my last blog post/isolation 😂) My in-laws brought over their old outdoor table and chairs. It fits perfectly on our deck and I kinda love it I finally assembled the garden boxes I put off for weeks We strung patio lights on our back deck and it is dang charming I pl...

The Quarantine Diaries // Day 2

The inevitable happened this weekend. There was a Covid-19 case in my workplace. I got a "please call me ASAP" text on Friday night... so I called and it was explained that there were two positive cases in the building. Great. After speaking with another coworker the following morning, I decided to go to the drive-thru testing centre. Nearly 3 hours later, I had been tested and was on my way home. I received a phone call from Public Health that I was deemed a close contact and required to self-isolate for 10 days- regardless of the results of the test I just had done. I got home and my sweet husband packed his things and moved into the spare bedroom. While my kids are a bit older at 10 and 12, they're hyper-sensitive to Covid-19 because we sadly lost a family member from it just last month. They understood, but were sad that there would be no hugs for 10 days.

So here I am, in my bedroom, where you will find me for the next week and a half or so. I feel like a burden because I'm not even allowed to go to the kitchen to get my own food. Andrew is assuming my role as the primary caregiver/cook/cleaner/homework helper, etc., while I'm just up in my room isolating. Most of today, day 2 of quarantine, was spent refreshing the website that provides the test results. I had hoped to be more productive and get the piles of paper from all over my bedroom cleaned up, figure out what is left to figure on our income taxes, etc., but instead I watched House of Cards and obsessed over every little feeling in my body, wondering if it was a symptom. Lucky for me, I got my results around 4:00 pm and I'm negative! After finding that out, I got a little start on going through some paper stacks but there is plenty left to do. Tomorrow I will be spending at least part of the day working online, then I hope to get our info off to the accountant. Since I'm stuck here, I think a good clean up of my closet will be in order sometime this week too! I suspect I will get sick of looking at these teal walls in this bedroom, so I'm tempted to have Andrew grab me some primer, paint, and a paint brush and get this room painted since I will be in here anyway.
